We've enjoyed a good week of beautiful spring weather. It's been especially nice because Justin was off and we could go for strolls together. This day was no different. We got up early (-er than typical for me) and drove downtown. We parked our car by the health food store to begin our walk around town, running errands, with the intentions of a nice coffee at the store upon our return. We had gotten our errands finished and were enjoying the outing, when our local trooper, an acquaintance of Justin's, called Justin's cell phone. He said that someone had run into our car and busted out our back window. They were waiting at our car for us to return. When we got there, we found out the whole story. Poor guy went to school with us. He was riding his bike and turned to wave at someone. Unfortunately when he did this, he ran into our car. His bike left tread marks on the bumper, dented the tailgate, and shattered the back window. Upon closer investigation, he also dented the sidebar up by the window-which we're assuming is what caused the window to shatter-WITH HIS HEAD-and no helmet mind you. He said he wasn't hurt and felt horrible for banging up the car. Thank goodness for a small town. We were able to stand around and laugh about the situation with him and the cops (of course after acknowledging the suckiness of it all). Justin will take the car to Anchorage on Monday for assessment and to be fixed. Good thing summer is on it's way. The first time anything bad has ever happened to one of my vehicles, and it was while it was parked and no one was around...not even another car. Oops.
Back window-gone.
See that dent-with his FACE
The interior of the car-thank goodness it wasn't in the seats.
How did I miss this! I had this in my favorites, I must have been in a hurry to leave and put this in there to read later. Hailey is so cute!!! I can't wait to see her. I will be up on the 26th of June. Bummer about your car. Hey, how come I never see the northern lights when I'm there? Guess I was sleeping. What size is Hailey in now? Does she need anything from Florida??? Keep me posted, I love to see pictures. Love, Mema
ReplyDeletehaha...oh my word! That is CRAZY all of that happened from a biker, and from his HEAD no less! How are the repairs coming?? That's the biggest bummer of it all. Glad everyone was ok!
ReplyDeleteIn a few months, that will be an incredibly funny story to tell while visiting friends and family outside of Alaska. Lower 48ers will think you are making it up.
