Footy Paints

I take Hailey to work with me every day. I am fortunate to work in a place that welcomes babies. During a typical work week, at least once Hailey will fill her pants  beyond capacity. We bring home the carnage of her clothes and tell dad that she made a painting. Ok, I know that sounds gross, but I'm sharing this with you for a purpose.

This past week, we found some finger paints around the office (thanks Sarah!) and decided to make dad a REAL painting. Here's what we came up with.

To put the icing on the cake, Hailey LOVED the clean up process, perhaps more than actually making the painting.  Check it out.

Ooops

We've enjoyed a good week of beautiful spring weather. It's been especially nice because Justin was off and we could go for strolls together. This day was no different. We got up early (-er than typical for me) and drove downtown. We parked our car by the health food store to begin our walk around town, running errands, with  the intentions of a nice coffee at the store upon our return. We had gotten our errands finished and were enjoying the outing, when our local trooper, an acquaintance of Justin's, called Justin's cell phone. He said that someone had run into our car and busted out our back window. They were waiting at our car for us to return. When we got there, we found out the whole story. Poor guy went to school with us. He was riding his bike and turned to wave at someone. Unfortunately when he did this, he ran into our car. His bike left tread marks on the bumper, dented the tailgate, and shattered the back window. Upon closer investigation, he also dented the sidebar up by the window-which we're assuming is what caused the window to shatter-WITH HIS HEAD-and no helmet mind you. He said he wasn't hurt and felt horrible for banging up the car. Thank goodness for a small town. We were able to stand around and laugh about the situation with him and the cops (of course after acknowledging the suckiness of it all). Justin will take the car to Anchorage on Monday for assessment and to be fixed. Good thing summer is on it's way. The first time anything bad has ever happened to one of my vehicles, and it was while it was parked and no one was around...not even another car. Oops.
Back window-gone.

See that dent-with his FACE

The interior of the car-thank goodness it wasn't in the seats.

Baby Math

4 1/2 hour sleep cycles X 3 nights + a little bit of complaining(tired mommy) = 6 1/2 hour sleep cycle = one rested mama

I was always keen for math. ;)

Weekly Accomplishments

This has been a big week for Hailey...and it's only Thursday.

We're getting a new bedroom set delivered this weekend, so we figured it was time to start letting her sleep in her own crib in her own room (and out of the bassinet in our room). I started out by letting her take a daytime nap in her room and she slept for THREE hours! That made me feel better about her staying in there all night long. Flash to today, she has slept in her room for three nights in a row. Very well too. I could complain here about how in her bassinet she was sleeping for 6-8 hours straight and now she is only sleeping for 4 hour stints, but 4 hours seems to be a lot for this age, so I don't feel I really have the right to gripe.

The second big news is last night she rolled over, all by herself, without any staging or assistance, AND I watched the whole thing! I was trying to lay her down to go to bed and she got herself all propped up on her elbows, kicked her knee up and rolled from her tummy to her side.  From here I knew it could go either way, she would either fall back to her tummy or complete the roll onto her back. I could hardly contain my excitement as she finished it off onto her back! Unfortunately Justin was trying to go to sleep in our room (this was like 11:45pm) but he was able to hear the whole thing on the room moniter. To top it off, she did it again before she finally fell asleep. TWICE! I'm not sure if it conveys properly through this post, but I'm a proud Mama!
